A preamp with drive, high and low pass filters, a four-band EQ, a VCA or FET compressor and a fader, in the order a console runs them. The gain you set at the front decides how every stage behind it behaves.

Boost and cut at the same frequency, the classic passive EQ move, on six bands from LOW to AIR. One SHAPE control changes how every curve behaves, with a valve and transformer stage behind it.

Split the signal at a crossover you choose and drive each band through its own saturation core. Seven characters, gain match so you judge tone rather than level, and a residual monitor to hear exactly what is added.

A vari-mu stage that levels program material the way a needle reads it, and a discrete VCA stage that catches the peaks it leaves behind. Run them in either order, with stage balance and delta monitoring.

Peaks bend through the RSL 2181 VCA into a diode clip cell, so the level comes up and transients still land. CLEAN holds a precise ceiling, IMPACT adds character, and a true peak guard watches the output.

It listens to your song, then moves dynamics, tonal balance, stereo width and clarity together, in proportion, and only as far as you turn it. Matched bypass lets you hear what it did at the same level.
